Set in northern Australia before World War II, an English aristocrat who inherits a sprawling ranch reluctantly pacts with a stock-man in order to protect her new property from a takeover plot. As the pair drive 2,000 head of cattle over unforgiving landscape, they experience the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by Japanese forces firsthand.

The film stars Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman as partners and lovers, in this epic tale of a time when war ruled the planet and love rose to the top.

Australia bigger than Titanic?

Marcos Oliveira, the head of 20th Century Fox in Australia, is taking aim at his studio’s own Titanic, telling the Sydney Morning Herald that he believes the upcoming Australia, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman and directed by Baz Luhrmann will become “the biggest [film] of all time” in that country.
