Sarah Marshall Review

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a modern, if not original, twist on an age old tale. You’ve been dumped by the love of your life, only to have it thrown in your face as you try to move on.

The Scoop

Devastated Peter takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know Sarah’s traveling to the same resort as her ex … and she’s bringing along her new boyfriend.

For some reason we are plastered with visuals of Peter Bretter’s {Jason Segels} penis, yet no other notable nudity from the girls. Perhaps the rumors of Apatow’s social life are yet again shining through in his movies.

Mila Kunis is stunning, nothing odd about this, and Kristen Bell rocks a bikini fairly well. The usual crew who works with Apatow are all in the movie, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd etc.

The Truth

Forgetting Sarah Marshall strings you along, tricking you into thinking something really outrageous or funny is going to occur, but it doesn’t. You would think Judd Apatow had something really creative up his sleave, but he doesn’t. The movie is short on laughs and strains to deliver anything really creative.

Reminds me of

The Breakup, Along Came Polly, Knocked Up , The 40 Year Old Virgin and every other Judd Apatow movie.

The Verdict

Rent it only if nothing else is in, don’t expect a lot of laughs or anything original. You’ve seen and experienced all these laughs and scenarios before.
