The action packed sci-fi thriller involves a group of young American ex-pats with telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities.
The Scoop
In the distant future, a small waste collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.
The Truth
WALL·E is a really entertaining movie, but it moves along slowly. My 4 yr olds enjoyed the moments when it picked up the pace, but found it a little dull for their age group.
Fantastic visuals and animations make this one of the better looking animations I’ve ever seen, but thats what you expect with Pixar/Disney.
The Action
Surprisingly little, its a love story wrapped around a message of environmental issues and realities that should hit home with the old kids. Bravo Pixar, its never too late to dril the importance of taking care of the environment.
Reminds me of
Short Circuit and E.T - WALL-E really resembles E.T in his movements and voice, while he moves and shakes like Number 5 from the 1986 cult classic.
Bonus Features
Check out the bonus features on the DVD and you’ll find 2 really clever animation shorts. The magician is hilarious, the kids loved the short more than the film itself.
The Verdict
I guess 488 Million in box office receipts doesn’t like, and I’m not really breaking anything new by saying WALL·E is a good movie. However, its not a “great” movie, but a solid production.
I don’t think it holds anything on Ratatouille or Cars yet I don’t feel it targets the same audience as Madagascar 2 or Bolt. Its a movie kids 8 and up will really enjoy, but I’m not sure the younger ones will have the attention span or thinking skills to really get into this movie.
WALL·E is a winner, just don’t expect a fast paced animation you are used to with Pixar.
