Quantum of Solace Review

Seeking revenge for the death of his love, secret agent James Bond sets out to stop an environmentalist from taking control of a country’s valuable resource.

The Truth

Quantum of Solace started out decent, but slowly turned into yet another forgettable Bond movie with Daniel Craig as the uninspired James Bond. The film asks you to believe Bond is superhuman, a master of every skill known to man. Maybe you can accept this, I can’t.

James Bond never used to be this way, he wasn’t superhuman. He was intelligent, charming and creative..but never this current disaster of a character. Maybe you like this evolution of Bond, I hate it.

The film never surprised me at any point, never wow’d me at any moment. I could have cared less about his enemies, his motives or the love hate relationship Bond now has with “M”.

This new “angry”, “dark” Bond is really quite pathetic. Daniel Craig still forces his pouty little face on us, but I still think he looks like Jar Jar Binks. I haven’t met a woman who finds Craig attractive, they all giggle when he tries to look like a sex symbol.

The Action

Sure, there’s a decent amount of action in Quantum of Solace, but its just far too unrealistic and over-the-top for my liking. Apparently Bond could enter the X-Games and win the motorcross challenge if he gives up the Secret Service. He could also go straight into Formula One racing according to the opening sequence. If that’s not enough, he can fly airplanes, race boats, race streetbikes and I suppose join the UFC and dethrone Georges St Pierre as Welterweight Champion. Afterall, Bond takes out 4 men at once in an elevator, how could GSP stand a chance?

So you try to accept this action for what it is, and deal with it..then they throw the kicker at you. Bond falls out of a plane with Olga Kurylenko , and manages to pull a Patrick Swayze moment from Point Break. He simply releases the parachute 20 feet above the ground, while clinging onto Camille’s body with his arms. Apparently physics doesn’t apply to James Bond, or Olga Kurylenko , and they simply bounce off the ground after being slowed down by the parachute.

I hate everyone involved in writing this film for throwing this one moment at me.

Opened The Chute

This is runner up for worst action moment of the year, only to be beaten out by Indiana Jones hiding in a fridge to protect himself from a nucelar blast. I’m coining this James Bond moment as “Opened The Chute”. A moment when a movie has a scence, so utterly rediculous and pathetic, you want to punch the television.

The Laughs

I laughed a ton, whenever Daniel Craig tries to appear sexy and handsome.

What’s good about it?

Not much, you can google Olga Kurylenko and find her naked pictures though.

What’s bad about it?

The action is so outrageous, along with Bond’s superhuman abilities.. that I hated this film from start to finish. Daniel Craig is the worst James Bond since Timothy Dalton and really has destroyed this series for me.

You’ll Like It If

James Bond fan boys will love it, they accept anything the Bond franchise gives them. If you liked the last Die Hard, which sucked, you’ll love Quantum of Solace as well.

Reminds me of

Die Hard.

The Verdict

Quantum of Solace was terrible and should be classifed as Science Fiction.
